Happy Easter

Happy Easter from Bryson and Jaxon!!!

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.
1 Peter 1:3-5

our week in pictures

we finally got hardwood floors! YAY!!! Clay and a couple of family members helped us out over the weekend to get these down. Clay did an amazing job! This was his first diy project and I was such the proud wife. ;) I found this rug on rugs usa website and I cannot wait for it to come in!!! Now if I could just find the right curtains.

I caught these two having somewhat of a brotherly moment hanging out in Bryson's room. Hoping for lots more of these moments through out the years to come.

This sweet angel baby has been letting me rock and snuggle with him. Which just melts my heart because he will be turning ONE in less than two weeks. Oh I just can't imagine our lives without this little man.

The Easter bunny came by Bryson's school on Wednesday for their party. I couldn't get to my phone in time so this was the best picture I got. He looks scared to death, but as soon as he got out of the car and saw him he gave him a high five and jumped up and down.

He wanted to show me where the bunnies footprint trail lead too. I thought this was such a cute idea.

I started my five nights back at work Wednesday night. I feel like I complain a lot about my job, but I really have the best of both worlds. Work 5 and then off for 9. I think it's just not getting to see my family for those five days that makes it so hard, but I think it's good for to have a little break every now and then.

I sent out Jaxon's invitations for his birthday! I really can't begin to tell y'all how fast his first year has gone by.

My sweet and TALENTED friend Ashley posted her bloomer sets for this upcoming Spring/Summer season and of course I had to order some for Jaxon. :)

I took off Friday night so that I could be with Clay and the boys and his family for Easter on Saturday. So I was able to sneak in a little cuddle time with this one during in nap. Trying not to take any of these precious moments for granted.

good friday

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed. {Lyrics from "By His Wounds"}

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

baby boy spring favorites

When I first found out I was pregnant with Bryson I knew that I was going to have my work cut out for me when it came to finding him clothes. Lets face it, those of us that are mother's of boys know how difficult it can be to find cute, affordable clothes that don't get a hole in them the first time you put them in the washer. And don't get me started with the hundreds of aisles of girls clothes and the one or two for the boys.
Over the last 4 years I have been able to find brands that I have fallen in love with and I shop at a lot of different stores depending on what I'm looking for.
So in the spirit of the first day of Spring yesterday I thought I would share a few of my favorite things I'm loving right now for Jaxon.

I love Gap clothes for babies and even for Bryson's age. They are always so soft and hold up pretty well. I'm liable to buy every one of these I've listed. The colors are perfect for the Spring and you could even transition them into summer.

Mini Boden is a new brand that I have recently started buying from. I heard about this brand from several mom's I follow on twitter and I'm in LOVE!

For most of Jaxon's play clothes I buy Carter's brand. There rompers are probably some of my favorite pieces they have for boys. And I can usually some of them are nice enough for him to wear to church during the Spring and Summer months.

bringing faith to life

I'm a little late getting this post together and to be honest I've been putting it off. Mainly because I've never been too good with words, but something keeps pushing me to try and write what's on my heart. So here it goes.

I grew up going to church. Being raised in the Bible belt it's just something your brought up doing. Attending church every time the doors are open. Checking off every box (read my bible - check, tithed - check, memorized my Sunday School verse - check), you get the picture. I was saved at the age of 13 during my church youth retreat that summer. I stayed involved in my church and never really strayed away from my "Christian upbringing" during my high school and college years.

But it wasn't until I had my boys that I started really understanding what it meant to be a Christian. That being a Christian is more than just attending church and checking off the boxes. Jesus desires for us to have a relationship with Him. He wants to know us on a personal level and for us to know Him on that same level. I feel so ashamed to admit that it has taken me almost 20 years to realize this.

Bryson is almost 4 and has started asking several questions about Jesus. And I am so afraid that I'm not always going to have or know the right answers to tell him. I doubt myself a lot! And I don't want to let him or Jaxon down in this area of their lives. There are so many things people don't tell you when you become a mother.

Observation is HUGE at this stage in their lives in my opinion and I want them to see that through me. I know that every day will be a struggle and at times I'm going to let them down. But that's where pray to me is key. I have just recently started praying over Bryson out loud before I leave his room at night. I used to sneak in before I went to bed and say a silent prayer, but lately I've felt led to say them out loud so he could hear me. And every night he will ask me "mama are you going to pray for me tonight?" I hope when he's 16 he will still come to me and ask me to pray for him.

My desire is to show my boys what being a Christian is all about. I want them to see their mama and daddy living out their faith everyday. Words cannot express how desperately I want my boys to KNOW their Lord and Savior. To have a desire to have a real, authentic relationship with Jesus.
I am so thankful that kelly, erin,  jennifer, and courtney are doing this series. Please go and visit some of the other link ups. They have been such a blessing to me!

Easter basket ideas for your little one

Trying to decided what to put in Jaxon's Easter basket has been a little challenging. I think for any parent with a newborn or baby sometimes it's hard to come up with practical ideas for your little one. I did a little searching and think I've come up with a few good ideas for J's basket this year!

These bunny pajamas from The Children's Place are just adorable! I went ahead and bought a pair for Jaxon, but I ordered a different pair to put in his basket.

Sophie the Giraffe Teether is a must for any little one cutting teeth. And this may come as a shock to y'all, but this is the first one I've ever bought. Bryson never really had a hard time while he was teething, Jaxon however has been a different story.

Bow ties for the boys or hairbows for the girls. Brittany is making Jaxon his first Easter bow tie and I cannot wait to see it!!! And though I don't have a girl Polkadotposies.com is a great place to order your baby girls hair bows.

Bath toys from Munchkin. If your kiddos love bath time as much as mine, these would be a perfect addition.

I can't say enough about these jellycat bunnies from Peek A Whoo. I ordered one for J and B. I'm not big on stuffed animals, but these are a must have for your little one. They are just too precious. :)

Jaxon loves the Gerber Graduates Grabbers.  I haven't found one he didn't like. These would make a good filler for your little one's basket.

Of course you can't go wrong with books and Sandra Boyton's books are some of my boys favorites.

Veggietales are a staple in our house. Bryson has loved them ever since he was itty bitty and Jaxon has followed in his big brother's foot steps.

So what are you putting in your little ones' Easter basket this year?

Easter basket goodies for your toddler boy

I LOVE Easter! It runs a close race with Christmas on my top favorite holidays list. I heart everything about Easter, it's meaning and getting to teach my boys why this holiday is more than just getting fun things in a basket.

I love finding things to fill Bryson's basket with! Who knew how much fun it would be to do these kinds of things when you have kids?!? That's something POSITIVE people don't share with you when you become a mom! I probably went just a little over board this year, but I couldn't help myself. So many fun and many inexpensive finds I found to fill the toddlers' basket. I hope some of these ideas might help you fill your little ones Easter basket with this year or ideas you can use for next year.

Zonderkidzs The Beginners Bible - I'm really excited about B getting this! I think most of the bibles we have are to old for him right now and I've heard great things about this one.

And how can you go wrong with the milk chocolate Cadberry mini eggs????

How can your little boy not look adorable in a gingham bow tie, just in time to wear on Easter Sunday. Brittany is making the boys theirs for Easter and I cannot wait to see them!!!

I fell in love with these precious Peek A Whoo JellyCat bunnies when AP blogged about them.

The Children's Place has some adorable pajamas. They are my go to store for purchasing the boys jammies.

Crayola Easter Egg Sidewalk Chalk. I bought these for B before and he LOVED them! They are just perfect for your little ones basket.

Bryson is obsessed with Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I think he would really like the Peter Pan movie.

My boys love this book.

Some other good ideas I have found: bubbles, iTunes gift card (B loves playing games on the iPad and it can get expensive sometimes), their favorite snack, coloring books and crayons, sippy cup, personalized placemats or plates, and a swimsuit (this was something I did for Bryson several years ago).

Hope y'all can find a few ideas for your little ones this Easter. And please share other ideas that you have!
