watering plants and water hose showers

I heart Alabama summers! Yeah the humidity can be a little much, but there's nothing better than living in the south during this time. These are the days memories are made of. And today was one of those days!

Looking forward to more of these days with him! I know they are few. He's getting older and mama isn't going to be as cool as she was when he was almost four years old. Helping water grandma's flowers and running through the hose will be a distant memory to him in the years to come. But I'll treasure these moments and make these some of the best years.

one year pictures

A couple of weeks ago my mom and I took Jaxon out to take some one year pictures. We went to a neighborhood right outside of where I grew up and the same place where Bryson had his one year pictures. Between me and mom I think we got some cute shots. I haven't seen all the pictures from my mom's camera and honestly I think she got some better shots. So most of these are just fun shots that I took. I haven't gotten the chance to get them edited. That's my next thing on the to do list this week.

Hope y'all are having a great Wednesday!

haircut day

Haircut days come often around our house. Bryson got his first haircut at 8 months old. Crazy I know, but he's just got hair that won't stop! :) So thankful Jaxon's has taken longer to come in.

Since last fall he gets one about every six weeks and sometimes that's toooo long. His last haircut before today I braved a shorter cut. With our Alabama summers I know he will be miserable with all that hair. It took me a while to find someone that could cut his hair the way I wanted. And it's been a work in progress because it got so jacked up from the last girl.

Today was six weeks since his last cut

We love Ms. Aslan! She has a little girl close in age to Bryson and she is so great with him!

Post haircut. I know it doesn't look like a lot has been taken off, but I promise it was more than this mama heart could handle.

We ended our haircut date with a trip to Sonic. Watermelon slush for the little and lemonberry for the mama. Not a bad way to end our day!

Memorial Day

We had a pretty low key Memorial Weekend. I worked over the weekend so we didn't get to do very much. And after on getting fours of sleep in a 38 hour period I dropped the ball on dressing the kids up today. :( I have several things planned for this week that will make up for it.

Sunday Clay and several of the guys in our Sunday School class went to the movies and out to eat after church. I was working so Clay took the boys to my parents for the afternoon. My mom sent me this picture of Bryson in the pool. His first time in for the summer. I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of our time between my parents and Clay's parents house this summer.

Since I've been working this past week I didn't get a chance to celebrate Bryson being out of school for the summer. So today I brought him home some goodies I found at the Dollar Tree. I had planned to bring him home some doughnuts (he's been asking for some for days) and wouldn't you know they were closed today. Boo!!

I ended up making the boys orange rolls and I don't think they were too disappointed. I'm thinking about stopping by the doughnut shop again on my way home in the morning.

Jaxon hasn't been feeling too well the last few days. He has a horrible diaper rash and several little bites on his face and lip. At first I thought it might have been the chicken pox because the bites were on the back of his leg and he's been scratching them, but after a few coats of the diaper cream it's starting to look much better.

This morning Bryson wanted to get out his growing lizard that he got in his basket. He sat in our bathroom and played with some of his toys. Supposedly it gets ginormous. Clay and I think we might have to put it in the bathtub. Ha! Life with boys!!!

Tonight we went and picked up Full Moon for dinner. Of course you have to have bbq on Memorial Day. It was so delicious and their onion rings are to die for.

I really hated that I didn't get the boys all dressed up today. After seeing all those instagram pictures of those precious babies in their red, white and blue I was a little upset with myself. But hey it's okay, you have to give yourself grace every now and then. And there's always 4th of July! :)

Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to all the men and women who have proudly served our country. I can't say thank you enough for the freedom they have given us!

God Bless America!!!

last day at MDO

Yesterday was Bryson's very last day at MDO! I can't believe how fast these last two and a half years have flown by!! I sat in car line waiting to pick him up and started tearing up because I was overcome with all these emotions.

I have fallen in love with each one of his teachers. They have taught my baby so much and have prepared him for the next step. I'm so blessed by them. They have set the bar high for his future teachers.

First day of MDO August 2012 and last day May 2013
Eyes closed in both pics. ha!!

Bryson has had several friends while he's been at MDO. If you ask him who is best friend is he'll say without hesitation "Arianna!" They started in MDO together and have developed the sweetest friendship. Amanda told me today that it was hard watching them tell each other bye. I'm not sure if Bryson understands that he won't be seeing his friends when school starts back in August. I've talked to him several times about it and it's hard to know if he grasps it.

The other day I was doing some cleaning around the house and came across one of his first pictures he had colored (well attempted to color) and it's just crazy to see how far he has come in a little over 2 years. I am so proud of him!!!

These are the pictures I took on his very first day at MDO. I can't believe how little he looks. He was so proud carrying his little backpack.

Bryson~

I am so proud of you my sweet boy! You have done amazing things over these last few years at MDO. I can't believe how far you've come in such a short amount of time. You have grown up so much since your first day.
There is so much I want to tell you, but I think it can wait for another day. I want to cherish this summer and my time with you. Because come August, things will be a little different and my heart just isn't quite ready for that. I love you my sweet boy! ~to infinity and beyond~ Mama
