jaxon's first bath

I was finally able to give Jaxon his first "real" bath last night. It's been a couple of weeks since his cord fell off, but with the broken ankle it's just much easier on me to sponge him off.

I have to say I didn't know how much I missed doing these baths. It seems so long ago when we were doing these with Bryson.

He started out liking it okay and then came the full on screaming. I know it will get better each week.
He did enjoy getting his hair washed.
All clean and handsome.

Jaxon's skin has been really dry. So yesterday someone gave me some of the California Baby products and I used the wash and shampoo combo and the moisturizing calming cream. Y'all when we woke up this morning his hands and feet looked wonderful.

I think I'll be purchasing more of this in the future. Have any of you mom's ever used the California Baby products on your little ones? Just curious to see what you think about their products.

project 365: week eighteen

April 29: I just love how much Bryson loves his baby brother. I was so nervous about how he would act, but he is over the moon in love with him!

April 30: Getting a nap outside while Bryson plays in the yard.

May 1: I can't get enough of these two sweet faces!!!

May 2: Trying out tummy time on the boppy pillow. He's still not that wild about it.

May 3: Sitting in mama's lap watching a movie.

May 4: Clay's done with school! YAY!!! What a ride these last 4 1/2 years have been, but I am SO PROUD of my amazing husband and this awesome accomplishment he's made.

May 5: I wanted to do something fun with B since we haven't been able to have some one on one time with him, so we took outside when it got dark and let him play with the glow sticks. He had the best time and so did Clay and I. I hope to do more fun stuff with him soon.

Do Lord, Oh Do Lord

I love listening to B over the monitor in the mornings. Some of the things that boys says cracks me up!

The other morning I heard him singing. He sang Jesus Loves Me, This is the Day and Do Lord, Oh Do Lord. I hate that I only got one of the three because the sings with such passion. :)

So of course I couldn't resist sharing it. I know one day these boys of mine are going to kill me for all the stuff I've posted about them. Ha!!

Flashback Friday

These two sweet little boys both at 25 days old. They couldn't look more different, but have this momma's heart equally. I have never loved anyone (well besides my adoring husband) more than these two littles. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for these two.

Happy Friday!!!

My New Normal...and Accepting It

well it's my new normal for the next few weeks.

I have several more weeks before I get my hard cast off and can be put in a boot and start bearing weight on my foot. I've struggled a lot these last three and a half weeks with my situation and questioning "Why" this had to happen. We knew a few months into my pregnancy with Jaxon that this would be our last baby. It was a choice that Clay and I made (and I'm just going to say it was a hard one to make because I enjoyed both pregnancies and Clay and I always thought we would have a big family). So with knowing that this was "it" I had come up with all these ideas in my mind about how things were going to be once Jaxon was born. All the things that I was going to do with the boys. Things I never would have done with Bryson; like going to public places, taking walks to the park, etc.

Fast forward to Easter Sunday and what I will remember as the most embarrassing moment of my life and the prelude to Jaxon's arrival :) Definitely not how I planned to spend my last few weeks off on maternity leave (since I had to use 6 weeks on bedrest) with a newborn and a toddler.

I'll admit that the first couple weeks of Jaxon's life I cried, had to make the decision to stop breastfeeding (which let me just say was probably the worst feeling in the world. I can't even begin to tell y'all how much I felt like a terrible mom for having to stop. I HATE the way society makes you feel if you can't stick it out), cried some more, had to learn how to get around with a walker, and did a lot more crying. Not the memories I had hoped/planned to make with my two precious boys.

Each day is getting better and I'm learning to accept this short season of my life. Jennifer from Life in the Green House wrote a wonderful post about letting it go today. After reading it I was so convicted about how I handled my situation. I hate to admit to y'all, but I always want to be honest on my blog, I didn't allow the Lord to carry me in the beginning. I didn't run to Him like I should have. I allowed the Satan to get the best of me and allowed him to steal away the joy those first few weeks.

Just like Jennifer talked about her daughter running to her when she's scared or needs her for comfort I want to run to the Lord just like that. I don't want to worry about what tomorrow brings. I want to be present in the moment and know that Jesus is in control. He's on the throne and everything works out according to His purpose and His plan.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:25-27

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

May Day

I can't believe it's already May 1st! Where has this year gone? Time is flying by and I find myself wishing I could freeze it. I'm adjusting to having TWO sweet, precious little boys and I'm so thankful for the life that the Lord has given me. Today I did something I didn't think I would be able to do a few weeks ago. I kept both boys by myself! Broken ankle and all. Ha! It wasn't near as bad as I imagined it would be. I have to say Bryson is one of the best little boys I know and Clay and I don't give him enough credit. He was so helpful and understanding. I know I say this a lot, but I'm so proud to be that little boys mama!!!

We did spend a lot of our time in my bedroom. It's easier for me to have all the baby's stuff right there for me if and when I need it.

I'm not going to lie, I had to open up the Diet Mtn Dew pretty early. I just knew B would sleep in, but of course he was up right after Clay left for school. Jaxon spent most of the morning sleeping:) And something that never happens, B ate every bite of his lunch and so I couldn't resist giving him a prize!
Ever since I was on bedrest I've been watching Lifetimes reruns of Grey's Anatomy. I think I've seen them about 3 times all the way through. I can't get enough of that show. B and J! Oh how I adore those two boys.
We watched a few movies too. And Bryson wanted to show Jaxon the movies Cars II. I don't think Jaxon has a choice about liking this movie. Ha!

I hope y'all had a great first day of May! Since I'm feeling much better, I hope to get back to blogging and sharing Jaxon's crazy birth story. Plus we have a lot of other things that are going on this month that I can't wait to blog about.
